TWO FT. LUH’DE GITA

Issue 0.2 | A morning with Luh’ De

Luh’De Gita, A Bali-born artist highly inspired by the cyberspace & how it could shape our identity in this modern world. Indeed, the idea of fantasy and reality really gives her a spark in her creative process embraced by the Cyber Stockholm Syndrome .

“ There's a feeling of not wanting to be seen and also to be understood on a deeper level through my artworks.

There's this quote from Donald Woods Winnicott that says: Artists are people driven by the tension between the desire to communicate and the desire to hide.

"The painting purpose is to show how Bali as a famous tourist destination has become somehow like a Paradiso but a simulated one, that’s why I added the sims logo on the child. The way I arranged the composition is how I translate the tension between the real and unreal."

“Inspired by Rina Sawayama's song. A tribute to the 2000s, the rise of y2k. The happiest time for me. I wanted to relive it with a modern sensibility.

The early 2000s represent period of barely memorable, blissful ignorance. The introduction of social media, the smartphone, video games that track your body, and other technology has dramatically changed the experience of childhood at terrifying rate since the late 1990s. “

"Back when I was kid I used to buy oreo and Fanta while wearing my sony headphones. Right now I feel I've become the upgraded version of my old self. I know how to dress, do make-up and stuff. But is this the real me? The line between the persona that I present and my true self is very thin."
